Rated 1 out of 5 by from Serious flaw in design I bought the 50mm to use for skinning South of Teton Pass (mostly flat). The skins adhered very well to my skis (86cm underfoot) and offered good kick and glide ratio. The skin's flaw is in a weak place where the skin fabric is connected to the buckle in the front. The very first time I pulled the skin from the the skis, it tore off completely from the buckle. Clearly, the two rivets that hold it on are not enough or the fabric is too weak relative to the adhesive. The shop where I bought them gave me a full refund, but I must say am disappointed with the design flaw.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty Good These seem to work fairly well on not too steep slopes where you don't need full skins. Three minor concerns: 1. Got only one cheater sheet that is not the full length of the kicker skin. If it were at least the full length, I could cut it in two and fold the skin back on itself with the cheater sheet in between. I don't like to fold it on itself without the cheater as I think it shortens glue life and makes them harder to use. 2. The directions are for full skins, not the kicker skins. 3. No cutter included to trim the skin as is provided with full skins.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Work great for long flats and low angle. Work great for their intended use. I bought on pair that I did tear like another review mentions, at the buckle interface, BD sent me a new pair. There is a weakness where the rivets are, but only if you tear them off your skis sideways, like tearing a piece of tape. If you pull them along the ski top to bottom they don't tear or break. I've had the same pair for 4 years now with pretty heavy use, 10+ times a season, they have a lot of life left in them too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Skins work very well on moderate slopes, easy to use and carry I see that one user had the rivets pull out that attach the buckle to the skin. My wife and I have not had that problem with ours. We recommend the use of a cheat sheet with them, Otherwise when its 5 degrees F. or below and the sticky sides of the skins are stuck to one another then It is very hard to pull them apart from one another. Other wise they have worked well for us. perhaps it was cold and that's why the rivets pulled out with the other guy. Or maybe they were just a bad pair.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A very useful product, but designed incorrectly. Wide kicker skins like these can be used to climb virtually any slope, as long as you're not trying to follow someone else's steep skin track. They are easier to carry and to use than full skins. But, the steel front cap is not bent sufficiently to form a good seal from snow on the front of the skin and a plug of snow will form right on the front. Bend it more, or even junk the cap and straps, use a thin plastic cap and let the glue hold the skin to the ski.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Kicker Skins arrived in unworkable condition I bought the 95mm Glidelite mohair mix kicker skins for use w/ AT ski/Dynafit setup for low angle ski touring. The skins didn't work since the metal piece wasn't flush with the bottom of the ski- snow kept getting underneath the skin- a major inconvenience on a long ski tour. I would not recommend purchasing unless you make sure BD has solved this problem or you want to put a curve in the piece yourself.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Useful! We recently used these to access a remote ice climb. We skied in pretty far with moderately heavy packs, but on terrain that was not steep. The kicker skins provided enough traction so we weren't thrashing around and slipping with our heavy packs, but they still gave us some glide so we didn't have excessive drag, as we would have had with full skins, which would have been overkill.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Unfortunate attachment to skies I tried the skin on several tours last year. The skins work pretty well at first. However, unfortunately it seems unavoidable to me with the current (2015) design, that snow gathers between the metal attachment and the skies. This creates a gap between the metal piece and the ski, that feels like a strong brake. I tried duct tape, but that doesn't hold for long in the snow.
