Rated 5 out of 5 by Larry Well made, good fitting glove!
This glove is very well made, it seems to run a little on the small side for sizing, I almost ordered a medium using the sizing chart, which would have been too small. The lining could have been a little warmer, I had to switch to mitts for colder weather.

I agree with other reviewers that you should order a size up. Normally I wear an XL with room to spare, these XLs are a tight, but acceptable fit (right on par size-wise with the 3 other BD gloves/mitts I have used). This is a hard working glove with good dexterity that does fine when it is not super cold. The gauntlet covers your coat cuff well and has a really nice mechanism to sinch and de-sinch (is de-sinch a word?). Normally I use a mitt when it gets really cold but have been using these to prep the truck, unload snowmachines, and groom ski trail (and cut the occasional tree out of the way) and have yet had to reach for my backup Murcury mittens.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Gordon Well made Glove with useful features
This glove looks great, is well made, has a handy hand warmer pocket etc. Which is all for naught as I cannot get my hand in it. I followed the sizing guide and even ordered a little bigger but there is no way I can use this product. If you order a pair get at least one size bigger.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Tina The Virago Glove is a true worker!
I just bought these gloves a month ago, and have been wearing them 5+ days a week. As a patroller, I found that these gloves have the dexterity to perform my daily tasks without having to take them off. And this past week with the temps in the single/negative digits, I loved the little zipper pockets to insert hand warmers. Thanks for thinking of those of us who spend 8+ hours out in the elements!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Kevin Great, warm, work glove
I used this glove guiding for a season and it was plenty warm for 5-30f and was very durable. 4 stars only because one of the fingers pulled out (inside lining became unattached from glove) and became a hassle to put on and off. I have been using the Patrol glove (mostly for patrolling - go figure) since and it has been bomber!

I am generally not stoked on this glove. I am a ski patroller and I took time to find the right BD glove going by the reviews and the product info. I need and expect a good working glove from Black Diamond, primarily because this is what the company boasts. First off, product info says that in very cold conditions this glove is not enough (without a hot pack insert), but I found that even on a day with snow (temps from -3 degrees to +1 that day) these gloves were insufficient. They do not provide enough warmth to be handling metal toboggans or snowy rope and boo all day. I have had them for less than two weeks, and have used them 8 working days out of that. Already they have a rip on the palm and some unusual wear on the cuff. I do use them for work, but they are advertised and designed to be tough (are they not?!). Lastly, on the first slushy day I wore them they proved to be not entirely water proof, another factor that is pretty much essential any mitt or glove provide.
Go with the Guides, as those are apparently the best BD makes, and ignore the product info that states good durability and warmth of the Virago glove.

I originally purchased the previous model. They offered great dexterity and fit. However, the inner liner separated from the seam. Black diamond warrantied these and sent me the updated model last year.
The updated model is a complete redesign. The sad part is I absolutely hate the new glove and cannot recommend it to anyone.
Looking at their marketing they fall short in dexterity, warmth and strength. Here's why:
These gloves are over filled with insulation. Bulk insulation is across the top of the hand, especially towards the outside. This does not allow for proper air circulation within the glove.
If that wasn't bad enough, the overall fit is on the small side. I am size 9 (glove) and these fit more like an 8 (ok an 8.5). My fingers reach the end of the glove. You would think this is great for dexterity but the fingers are way to short to offer this. Again, the big issue is that they don't allow for air to circulate around the ends of my fingers, causing cold hands. This is glove fit 101; fit is the key to warmth.
Lastly the leather on the bottom has already ripped after one season. I'm not hard on these either. They saw about a two months of actual winter use. I still had 4 months of MN and Nd winter left.
I recently started looking for replacements. I noticed my local dealer had the Virago out on their shelf. It seems they have trimmed the insulation this year, fixing some of the issues above. However, that doesn't help me any. (Idk for sure just basing off a side by side comparison).
Because of the pitfalls in design and construction I will be looking for alternative options for replacement.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Marcus Tough gloves, careful when sizing
These have been a good glove so far. They're tough and keep out water and snow very well while keeping your hands warm.
But the sizing chart/system seems way out. When measuring your hands, use the method on the website but then go one size up. Mine literally 'fit like a glove' but in a ski glove i find it's better to have a bit more room. The leather stretches a little after some use, but I should've gone for one size larger.
Some treatment with a glove conditioner on the leather will help make them last a lot longer.
