PIEPS Backup Transmitter is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not for use with a dog or other non-searcher DO NOT purchase this item to use for a dog or other object (ie. snowmobile) as was mentioned in another review. In the case of an avalanche you would need to track down your dog to turn its beacon off before starting your beacon search. Also in the case there was a multiple burial there would be no way to determine which beacon is a dog, object, or a human. If you would like an option to search for a dog purchase the dog transceiver and the DSP Pro.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for practicing, and backup use Great little unit to hide in the snow (with a sling or other marker!) to practice search regularly with my main beacon, so I stay familiar with the full range of functionality. In addition, backup unit for members of the party who would not be expected to search but need to be found (dog).
