How To Use The Black Diamond Orbit Lantern

Rated 3.5 out of 5 by 2 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect for me! I left my headlamp at home and just took this little lantern on a recent 152-mile trek. It's made out of a durable plastic, so it's lightweight, and the batteries remained strong for the entire 9-day trip. It was excellent for lighting up my two person tent and for night hiking. I love the triple settings of lantern, flashlight, or both. The lantern setting gives off a soft light perfect for mucking about the tent, organizing gear, & cooking. While looking over maps & reading, I set it to flashlight & hung it from the top of the tent. Since I don't think headlamps are that comfortable for more than a few minutes, I'm going to be sticking with this little lantern from now on! January 12, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by A Step Down from the Apollo Lantern The Orbit Lantern is a cross between a flashlight and a camping lantern. The Orbit is relatively small, making it convenient to pack on backpacking trips and can also be used on the trail. I would describe the lantern as flimsy as it doesn't feel very durable. The lantern is powerful enough to light up your tent but doesn't provide much light for a campsite. The flashlight is a step down from a headlamp. If you just want something small to illuminate your tent, the Orbit Lantern is fine but if you want something to light up your campsite, I'd recommend purchasing the Apollo Lantern instead.
