The 10th Annual Red Rock Rendezvous—Good Times For AllWednesday, September 7, 2016
The 10th Annual Red Rock Rendezvous went down March 28-30, and as usual the event was a huge success. Red Rock National Conservation Area is famous around the world for its incredible sandstone sport and trad climbing. Routes range from easy bolted pitches to hard multi-pitch lines, and the huge variety of moderate climbs make this place a beginner’s paradise. The 2014 Red Rock Rendezvous kicked off Friday night, and the festivities included a live recording of an episode of The Enormocast with Black Diamond athletes Kate Rutherford, Dawn Glanc, Chris Schulte and Nik Berry—talking shop with tons of different people and drinking plenty of New Belgium beer. Saturday was when things really kicked off for attendees, and the first clinics started bright and early at 8 am. Kate Rutherford and Dawn Glanc taught clinics on behalf of BD, and after a full day of climbing in the sun the attendees headed over to the festival grounds for a night of your standard climbing festival festivities: free food, free beer, fun people and the dyno comp. The BD Stoke Raffle was a huge success and Pam Neal from Los Angeles took home the full kit of BD gear and apparel, including a Gridlock carabiner, ATC-XP belay device, Flight harness, Cult chalk bag, Half Dome helmet, HoodWire Quickpack, Deployment Hoody, Deployment Tee and Stretch Font Pants. Congrats Pam! With forecasted winds expected to reach +70 mph on Sunday, attendees hunkered down after boogieing the night away. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived back at the fairgrounds to see Tent City intact and pancake breakfast going on the griddle to coat our bellies before the last day of clinics. Another Red Rock Rendezvous in the bag. See you next year!
