DescriptionMove seamlessly from the crag to a backcountry ice flow with the versatile Black Diamond 9.6 FullDry. Featuring an Endurance sheath that utilizes a 1X1 weave construction to lengthen the ropes’ lifespan and make it more abrasion-resistant, the BD 9.6 has a dry treated core and sheath that protects it from the inside out against weather. The rope’s 9.6 diameter hits that sweet spot of being thin enough for a hard sport redpoint, but thick enough to take a seasonal beating in the desert and then easily transition to winter ice pitches. With a middle marker and comfortable handling that knots easily and feeds smoothly through a belay device, the BD 9.6 FullDry is our multi-faceted, all-weather workhorse.
- FullDry Performance: With a core and sheath that are dry treated, our FullDry ropes are protected against weather from the inside out
- Endurance Sheath: With more material and a unique 1x1 weave construction, our Endurance sheath is abrasion-resistant and lengthens the lifespan of your rope
- Durability and Handling Balance: Purpose-built to balance both durability and great handling, our ropes are not too stiff and not too soft, giving you a great feeling rope that knots easily, feeds through your belay device with ease, yet holds up to a barrage of use

Rated 5 out of 5 by Micah from Great rope, handles well. I bought this rope a couple weeks ago, and used it for two days of projecting at Smith Rock this week. It handled really well, extremely smooth both belaying and clipping. Weight felt good, and it had no coils or kinks pretty much straight out of the box. We used it on a variety of routes and projects, and whipped all over it, including multiple 20'+ foot whips, and one whip over the edge of a roof that I wasn't too excited about, but there was no damage to the rope at all. Catches felt soft, but not so soft that it made the fall feel longer (that being said, the falls were long anyway... it was Smith Rock...). My rope prior to this was a Maxim Glider 9.4, and the new BD rope handles much the same, and is a little less expensive if I remember right. I'd totally recommend it after this trip.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Nate from A work in progress I will update this review as time goes on. 7/25: A few months in now, and the rope gathered dirt and dust faster than I expected. Admittedly, it has been used in some pretty dirty, dusty places. It has a few nicks in the sheath, which is to be expected, as it has taken a few falls including one 20'+. The middle mark has already worn to the point of being nearly unrecognizable. It is mostly used for lead climbing and top roping single pitch, but it has also been used on alpine granite. It is also thicker than I expected a 9.6 to be; that is, noticeably thicker than my previous Mammut Infinity. It handles well, came out of the box without kinks, and otherwise serves all the functions of a workhorse rope.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Shawn from Great rope from a great company! This rope is everything you would expect it to be from a company as reputable as black diamond. The sheath on this rope feels so solid and durable compared to other ropes I have owned and worked with. It feeds smoothly through all belay devices, catches softly and does everything it is supposed to. One of my climbing partners got the Orange version of this rope and we agreed, both the full dry and the untreated rope are both awesome! Good job black diamond!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Daniel from Favorite Rope I've Used I grabbed this rope a few weeks ago and have used it countless times since then, taking falls, dragging it over edges, just doing some character building and this rope has held up marvelously, no fraying, still has that neon shine to it, and feels like it was just taken out of the box. Not only is it durable, it feels amazing clipping, tying in, and belaying. Just a great light weight, smooth rope all together.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Whining guide from Smooth yet too fat I have used this rope for the past few weeks mostly multipitch climbing. I don't enjoy using ropes that are too skinny so I often go middle of the road with 9.5. This seemed like the right fit. Being a new rope on the market I had to get it without seeing it and unfortunately the 9.6 is more like a 10.2! Way too fat and heavy for most of my needs!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Just an Outdoorsman from Solid Rope So far so good. The tight, smooth sheath feels great in the hand and seems to run over rock with very little friction. I've only had this rope for 3 months, and I have abused it pretty heavily. So far it's showing very minimal signs of wear. I am certainly happy with my purchase! Recommend it to anyone in need of a new rope.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Persky from Great Cragging Rope This rope is perfect for cragging. The sheath feels great in your hand while you're belaying and runs perfectly through a grigri. Great color. Obvious middle mark. She's my new baby
