DescriptionMove seamlessly from the crag to a backcountry ice flow with the versatile Black Diamond 9.6 FullDry. Featuring an Endurance sheath that utilizes a 1X1 weave construction to lengthen the ropes’ lifespan and make it more abrasion-resistant, the BD 9.6 has a dry treated core and sheath that protects it from the inside out against weather. The rope’s 9.6 diameter hits that sweet spot of being thin enough for a hard sport redpoint, but thick enough to take a seasonal beating in the desert and then easily transition to winter ice pitches. With a middle marker and comfortable handling that knots easily and feeds smoothly through a belay device, the BD 9.6 FullDry is our multi-faceted, all-weather workhorse.
- FullDry Performance: With a core and sheath that are dry treated, our FullDry ropes are protected against weather from the inside out
- Endurance Sheath: With more material and a unique 1x1 weave construction, our Endurance sheath is abrasion-resistant and lengthens the lifespan of your rope
- Durability and Handling Balance: Purpose-built to balance both durability and great handling, our ropes are not too stiff and not too soft, giving you a great feeling rope that knots easily, feeds through your belay device with ease, yet holds up to a barrage of use

Rated 5 out of 5 by whatthegunks from Good handle, impressive strength Purchased at the tail end of the ice climbing season here in the northeast. I've now used the rope in a wide variety of terrain; ice, canyon routes at Red Rocks and cragging in the Gunks. The dry coating performed impressively in wet late season ice, defending from moisture as well or better than any rope I've owned. The rope seems plump for 9.6 but has a fine handle and draws through an ATC Guide smoothly. It is a generous 60m, easily making raps which have been close with other lines. The sheath has held up well to the variety of abuses I've put it through these last couple of months including the particularly abrasive conditions of desert climbing and guiding here in the Gunks which has included me lowering clients a bunch from the top of climbs. The cord is slightly heavier than other similarly sized ropes but in exchange has an impressive UIAA fall rating of 9. It is a work horse.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Seapine from Awesome rope! This rope handles very nicely, has great knotting ability and looks awesome to boot! I've had very few issues with rope twist upon initial use which is sometimes an issue with new ropes. This one seems to be the Mama Bear (just right) of durable ropes for your local crag. It is actually more like a 9.8, but the weight is very competitive. Overall I love everything about it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Justen from Durable yet Supple Tying into this cord allows me to focus when above my gear. The sheath feels durable yet has enough suppleness to help the performance. The middle marker seems to be thick black which I hope will last when its not so new. As a belayer the middle marker is noticeable going through the device which is a good thing in my book.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Ward from Sheath is the best part on the ropes Built to take abuse. Even though the diameters keep getting smaller, the sheath seems to keep getting more burly. I'm impressed. What about some static rope options? Pull down cord? Burly 10.5 lead line for the few of us that climb on choss???

Rated 3 out of 5 by Tony from Still not dialed in Rope performance is as expected. The fine weave on the sheath keeps particle penetration and friction low. Half way mark wore off almost immediately. Would have preferred marking (see Mammut) to tape on ends.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Paultheball from Great desert rope. I bought this rope since the fulldry feature helps keep sand out. So far it has been great, and I'm looking forward to climbing some ice with it!
