Rated 3 out of 5 by Great Pack but not as good as the Previous Version I bought this pack because my previous Demon Pack was finally starting to wear out after 4 years of continuous use. It is still a great pack made of tough materials, but there are a few things that have changed from the previous model (which was the best pack that I have ever owned in this size range). Firstly the shoulder straps (the padded parts) are too short. They are a full 3" shorter than the previous version. This makes the pack feel quite small, and reduces comfort. The sizing chart indicated that I needed a Medium size (18.5" torso, 33" waist, 165lbs), and with the short shoulder straps it feels quite small. The padded section of the shoulder straps only extends to half-way down my pectoral muscles. My recommendation is to try the pack on in-store before you buy. This was not an option where I live, and now I regret buying it online. In terms of features, the pack is a durable no-nonsense pack with useful features like the rope strap, and ice-axe loop. The previous version had accessory loops on the hip strap which are also missed. Overall, I would recommend the pack to someone looking for a very durable and simple pack. Again, I recommend trying it on, before committing to a size. January 14, 2014
