Rated 3 out of 5 by Lucas Very light, one fit and one design issue
Finally upgrading from my ancient but much beloved Ecrin Roc. This Vapor helmet is outrageously light. It feels good when on my head but I wish I could fine tune the straps that encircle my ears to dial in the fit on my head. Secondly, when coiling a rope over my shoulders or when wearing more bulky clothing, I have had the rope and clothing snag the tightening system and either tighten or, more often, loosen the helmet. Seems to me a poor design to have the cinching system able to be snagged by random things.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Steve In an unaticipated rock fall the Vapor performed beyond all expections.
My Vapor is lite, very comfortable, and I really like it when I am backpacking into distant sites. I do a lot of work with youth and those who are just beginning to become accomplished on rock. Thus, there tends to be less finesse on the part of many of them. As a consequence, rocks, and even a stray carabiner, sometimes become lose under the influence of gravity. One hard hit on your Vapor and you instantly appreciate that it was worth every dollar. There was the call; “Rock, Rock, Rock”, tucked the chin, and then the hit. Location of impact was just to the right of center in the mid forehead area. Even with the Vapor, I could tell that it was a very solid and significant impact. I don’t think that the Vapor even moved on my head, but I could feel the energy being dissipated across my entire skull area. Amazingly, there was no headache or sore neck following the event. On later inspection there was a one centimeter deep dimple measuring three centimeters across in the impact area. I still think about what it would have done to my forehead, and even my face, without the energy absorption built into the Vapor. I’ll have to replace it, but will keep it in a place of honor forever. Now that there is more than one color, I might even go with white instead of grey. But, I want to let the folks at Black Diamond know that you did a great job on this piece of gear. Thanks forever.

Love this helmet. You can barely tell you are wearing one. Fits well, crazy light and stylish too. The only thing I would like to see would be a removable visor for sunny days.

by Will So Light its Nuts
If you are looking for a light helmet this is it. I have worn mine on countless alpine trips and it has served its purpose exceptional well. Its light enough to wear on long days in the alpine without making you feel like a bobble head, but its still very protective. From my experience when I'm not on lead, it protects from falling rock very well. Mine has caught a rock and it has yet to show signs of damage. My advise, just get one. Believe me it will be worth it.

Absolutely fantastic helmet. Forget I'm wearing it most of the time. Fits well, great ventilation, featherweight. Highly recommended. I wear 7 1/8" on fitted hats. The S/M fits perfectly.

I've had a Half Dome forever, but wanted something lighter. Opted for the Vapor over the Vector in the middle of a 100 degree spell here in Utah. Happy with the purchase, even though it was a little more $$. It's airier than anything I've worn in the past, ridiculously light, and very easy to adjust into a comfortable fit. I use it for canopy work and was a little worried it wouldn't stand up to constant knocks, whacks and scrapes from branches. Not an issue, though I wouldn't recommend absently hucking it down on rocks after taking it off.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Berndt Great fit and weight
It is like not wearing a helmet. Great fit. Since it is light weight construction, it gets dinged up a lot more than your standard hard plastic helmet. I love mine and will probably get another.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Corbin excellent buy
A cycling helmet of these materials retails for double this price, so you're not necessarily getting gouged in the grand relative scheme, but it still is a pricey helmet in the climbing world.
super duper light. super duper comfortable. super duper low profile. super duper cool (temps and the chyll-brah-bro factor, which is why you wear a helmet, obviously).
Dings up easily. Maybe it's cause it feels so light and minimal, but it seems to be as delicate as a flower. If you want a helmet to toss about in your bag, buy the hardshell protection, cause this will get shredded under those conditions.
