How-to Video: Fitting Black Diamond Gloves and Mitts

BD athletes Will Gadd and Tim Emmett ice climbing in the Alps

Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 5 reviewers.
Rated 3 out of 5 by Good glove but lacks durability I purchased these gloves for spring skiing here in AK. They are weather proof enough that my hands don’t get wet digging a snow pit and don’t freeze when the wind picks up. At the same time they are breathable enough that I can keep them on during the entire ascent, or even on a trail run. The first problem I noticed was the fit. I have owned many pairs of BD gloves and a large has always fit my hand well. With these gloves a large is a little two big. I think it is worth trying on these gloves even if you know your “BD size”. The second problem is with durability. I noticed after only a few days of wear that both thumb patches had holes in them. I don’t recall snagging them on anything and its both thumb patches so I think BD needs to beef up that patch a bit. I repaired the holes with flexible UV wader repair (my go to for glove repair) and it seems to be holding up. April 28, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great light glove I've used these for splitboarding for over a year now and they're my goto for cold and warm days. I'd agree they're warm to about 20 degrees based on physical exertion. I got these because I wanted a thinner glove to feel the rope and rock. It does that and keeps my hands plenty warm. I use them on the down as well, but I think that took a toll on them as I usually drag my right hand, for a skier they'll last way longer than mine did. March 3, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by superior glove This light weight, extremely well constructed glove is amazing! Fits true to size (im normally a L, and a L fit perfectly). I use this glove for skate skiing and for any cold weather rope work I do when climbing. Highly recommend. February 27, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome Gloves I have been rocking a pair of BD Stretch gloves (I have totally forgotten the name of them since I've had them so long) to the point where the holes have outfoxed my means of repairing them. The Scree gloves have filled in that position beautifully. Light, nimble, rugged - I am looking forward to putting these gloves through their paces mountaineering, skiing, skinning, and ice climbing the rest of this season. February 5, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Nice Gloves! These gloves fit great, but run slightly small so order a size larger. Long term durability should be better than expected due to the full leather palm. I use them for Backcountry Skiing and fringe season cycling and find the warmth good for me down to about 20°F as long as the activity level is high. November 24, 2014
