Our lightest carabiner, the Oz features an optimized geometry and the keylock benefits of HoodWire Technology. Learn More

Designed with an optimized shape and the snag-free benefits of our HoodWire Technology, the 1-ounce, hot-forged Black Diamond Oz is still the best way to lighten your rack. A patent-pending stainless steel wire hood brings keylock functionality to wiregate carabiners without losing the lightweight and anti-freezing benefits. And thanks to the Oz's new geometry, it holds strong as the lightest carabiner in our line.

  • Hot-forged construction
  • Patent-pending stainless steel wire hood design provides snag-free keylock functionality
  • New optimized shape
  • Same size and clip-ability as the Neutrino, but 8 grams lighter
  • Does not freeze up in alpine conditions

HoodWire Technology brings keylock functionality to a wiregate carabiner and is now available on our legendary, redesigned Oz carabiner. Its unique, stainless steel wire hood is a simple, strong design that won’t snag when unclipping. The wire hood doesn’t trap debris that could cause an open-gate failure, and protects the nose from wear.

Rated 4.8 out of 5 by 14 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great light weight carabiner I switched to OZ carabiners on all of my runners and the wight difference is amazing. Snag free design never gets caught up, saving a lot of potential messing around when extending placements. July 27, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Hard to complain No snags, super light. Clips easy. Better than other wire gates. July 19, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Float up long routes with the Oz Carabiner After replacing my other carabiners with the Oz I immediately noticed the weight savings. Add these carabiners to Dynex slings and this lightweight low bulk alpine draw is hard to beat. May 24, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by New favorite biner Super lightweight, snag-free. What isn't to like? My only beef is that the gate opening could be bigger. I've seen complaints about the 20kN main axis strength, but that's still full strength rated. Your body will break from a fall before this thing does. I'll definitely be buying a rack pack when I finally get a set of Camalots, these things are perfect for racking. March 10, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Smooth and Lightweight Sometimes I wonder why all carabiners are not snag-free. A logical upgrade from the neutrino. Still waiting to be able to order individual colors. There are better designs of the snag-free opening on the market but none that come close to the Oz on value. January 19, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by OZ or HoodWire? I prefer the HoodWire. Both have the key feature of the Hoodwire technology. This biner is light and stuff but it feels more delicate that the HoodWire, that how it feels, of course they are comparably strong. But how gear feels in my hand and how it functions matters to me. So I chose a little more weight and the HoodWire because I think it feels better. I like the size of the HoodWire and that it is more round and therefore better for hauling/lower friction(not sure if the engineers would agree with my last claim, but it could be true). If your a weight weenee, this might be your dig. November 5, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Follow the Yellow Brick Road Hoodwire nose + size + weight = one of the better biners out there. Perfect for racking cams and for use with slings. No snags on biner noses means faster, easier climbing, especially for the second. October 5, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Solid Biner I am very new to climbing and recently added these into my rack and can't comment enough about how easy they are to get on and off the wall or climbing equipment. As a climber just starting to lead routes, I cannot stress enough how important having equipment that works well. It's one more thing that I don't have to think about when clipping in. Thanks for making a great product that keeps me safe and is very easy to use. No snags and minimal weight. July 21, 2014
