Description

Designed with an optimized shape and the snag-free benefits of our HoodWire Technology, the 1-ounce, hot-forged Black Diamond Oz is still the best way to lighten your rack. A patent-pending stainless steel wire hood brings keylock functionality to wiregate carabiners without losing the lightweight and anti-freezing benefits. And thanks to the Oz's new geometry, it holds strong as the lightest carabiner in our line.

  • Hot-forged construction
  • Patent-pending stainless steel wire hood design provides snag-free keylock functionality
  • New optimized shape
  • Same size and clip-ability as the Neutrino, but 8 grams lighter
  • Does not freeze up in alpine conditions
Hot Forging vs. Cold Forging

HOT FORGING VS. COLD FORGING

We use two different forging methods to build carabiners—hot and cold forging. Each has its benefits and using both allows us to achieve the best possible shape, size and strength for each carabiner’s intended use. HOT FORGING, a process where both the rod stock and forge dies are heated, allows us to “move” the metal, creating more intricate shapes, such as our GridLock and Oz biners.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Solid Biner I am very new to climbing and recently added these into my rack and can't comment enough about how easy they are to get on and off the wall or climbing equipment. As a climber just starting to lead routes, I cannot stress enough how important having equipment that works well. It's one more thing that I don't have to think about when clipping in. Thanks for making a great product that keeps me safe and is very easy to use. No snags and minimal weight. July 20, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by One of the best carabiners ever!! Oh so light yet oh so useful. Wide opening, no snagging, what a great biner. This or something just like this will eventually be on all of my alpine draws!! Thanks again BD!! April 24, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by The only biner you need These biners make up 90+ percent of my rack on every big expedition/first ascent, cragging, you name it. I have used these for years and they are by far my favorite most versatile biner. Light, sweet, work horse, you name it. Any weather, any condition, anywhere. Thanks to whoever designed/created these. Must have. June 23, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Light and functional I just committed to using only Oz carabiners for my entire alpine climbing rack. They are super light, don't snag on slings, and most importanantly, I can still use them with bulky gloves. Switching over has saved me pounds. June 14, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect match for Camalots For me, the Oz is the perfect all around carabiner for trad climbing. I use them to rack my cams, and for my light draws or for sewn runners. Weight is of course light, but they feel good in hand and the new key lock is great for avoiding snags. June 11, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Black Diamond Oz Carabiner The Black Diamond Oz Carabiner has become the mainstay for my trad rack, as it has helped to lighten the load of a full rack of gear and has made it completely easy to select the proper cam, as they color coordinate so well. Now it's not necessary to mention my trad rack as a 'training weight,' as the BD Oz carabiner floats among the clouds. May 20, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Oz Carabiner I've initially used the Neutrino racking carabiners with all my cams and as expected they performed great. I didn't realize how much the the Oz carabiner would change my perception of my racking gear. Essential gear placing moments and clipping time was reduced drastically, and pushing my grade of climbing increased. It has become mandatory that all my cams are racked with oz carabiners.
