Our large, versatile locking biner featuring Magnetron Technology, which uses magnets in the gate and a steel insert in the nose for unprecedented security and ease of use. Learn More

Combining maximum security and ease of use like never before, the Black Diamond Magnetron Rocklock uses the power of magnets to reinvent the auto-locking carabiner. Magnetron Technology uses two magnetic arms in the gate and a steel insert in the carabiner's keylock nose to create an ultra-secure, self-clearing and redundant locking mechanism that can easily be used with either hand. Our classic RockLock shape is ideal for belaying, making anchors or rappelling, and its keylock nose prevents snagging on slings and ropes.

  • Innovative gate design uses two magnetic arms in the gate and a steel insert in the nose for super-secure, interference-free closure
  • Keylock nose prevents snagging
  • One-hand operable
  • Square hinge end helps hold belay loop securely in place
  • Slightly curved spine maximizes gate opening
Hot Forging vs. Cold Forging

We use two different forging methods to build carabiners—hot and cold forging. Each has its benefits and using both allows us to achieve the best possible shape, size and strength for each carabiner’s intended use. HOT FORGING, a process where both the rod stock and forge dies are heated, allows us to “move” the metal, creating more intricate shapes, such as our GridLock and Oz biners.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Big improvement over twist lock carabiners I have used twist lock carabiners for years, and screw locks before that. The magnetic locks are great. Easy to open one handed; closes and locks automatically when you let go. It is also a good size; not too big, not too small. Until something better comes along, I will be using this for my rappel/belay needs. September 2, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect for Rock This is one of the easiest to use locking carabiners on the market right now. It is as easy to open as any non locking carabiner, but just as safe if not safer than any locking carabiner. I have tried every way I can think of to bust it open with no luck. I admit that I was very skeptical at first and wanted to test it myself. The only application I wouldn't recommend it for is in winter with heavy gloves, it is hard to release. If you just have a light pair no problem though. May 21, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome Carabiner!!!! So simple and smooth to use! Hasn't locked up at all. I hesitated to switch from the screw gate to this but after I did I was blown away! You don't have to worry about anything getting caught and you don't need to worry about the carabiner opening by accident. Way to go Black Diamond! June 18, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome high-functioning Carabiner!! I love this carabiner!! It works very smoothly and does not stick at all. It closes and opens easily but have NOT had it accidently open. This is my new favorite carabiner!! May 19, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by I love it easy operation I love it the magnetic clip is so nice .I can easily slide it open with one hand with no problem .I can't wait to use it next season. May 11, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Simple, easy to use but takes some getting used to This Biner is great! It's a bit tricky to get used to but once you have got it down it's the best Biner you can get! April 1, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great for rock, difficult for ice/alpine I learned to love this for rock. It requires aligning two fingers to the trigger, but a little practice made if feel natural. And VERY secure. For ice, however, it's a bit more difficult with gloves. Gloves don't have the feel or dexterity to locate the trigger easily (a "button" on each side of the gate). For applications with gloves, I'll use a rotating autolock, which doesn't require quite the precision. January 24, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Super cool product Gave it to my brother for Christmas. He was stoked. January 8, 2014
