Functional, durable and loaded with features, the Black Diamond Drop Zone Crash Pad is an ideal daily driver and our best-selling pad. The Drop Zone features 3.5 inches of high-quality open- and closed-cell foam to cushion your fall when you grease off the finishing hold, and two grab handles make for easy pad shuffles. The pad also features a quick-closure elastic mesh flap that cinches down so you can shove your shoes, chalk pot, jacket and other essentials into the pad without having them fall out the bottom.

  • Taco-style fold for a continuous landing surface
  • Quick-closure elastic mesh flap cinches down with easy hooking metal buckles to securely stow gear
  • Shoulder straps, waistbelt and 2 handles

Rated 5 out of 5 by Best solo pad, holds everything you need. Stiff at first, but after you see the materials used, you realize this thing is built with serious quality. You can throw whatever you want at this thing and it will still perform wonderfully every time. Folding it up can take a sec to get used to, and the storage capabilities could be tweaked, but overall, this pad has made its way to my first choice when I leave to solo some boulders. June 29, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Pad works great Quite light, I built an 8' wall in my backyard for the kids. They're able to get it opened and put into place (also put it away after climbing). It's also my personal go to pad when I'm out and about. A little firm for the kids (ages 3 and 6) but for me it's about perfect. May 5, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Very durable crashpad The Drop zone is a great pad, plenty of padding, super durable and with the taco design there is no dead spot. The mesh flap is great for stashing things like your chalk bag or lunch. It even has a handy zippered pocket that fits their brush kit. November 27, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Sweet Ride! I've owned a bunch of Drop Zones over the years, going back to the Franklin days, and recently picked up a couple of the most recent generation. The foam is the best of the 10ish pads I've owned, firm, rebounds, and has a long life. I also like the newer closure systems (stretch flap). I only see two downsides: 1. The new buckles are bad. Super hard to loosen or tighten. 2. The shoulder straps no longer come off to allow it to become an over-the-shoulder bag. Not having this feature is a bummer when carrying more than one pad.
