Rated 5 out of 5 by Mar' from Smoothest-movers ever! I used to use the original compact cast-aluminum Swiss ascenders for walls, then switched over to the roomier French units for camera-work. Lately, my projects are not so committing (nor commercial), but more varied and intricate (as well as solo), so I can appreciate how the new Index Ascender's design has resulted in a much more refined device for remote rope-work on steep rock and ice. For example, I like the bi-density layer over the cam-retention latches for repetitive long-term wear-protection (for the main-frame at the cam's pivot-point), which is also the soft surface over the cam's namesake feature, allowing the user to conveniently release the cam's contact with 8~13mm ropes using the index-finger (or with a single movement of the thumb, when it's time to remove the ascender from the rope). Bonus points for the soft traction-indent on the thumb-tab to push the cam's locking-mechanism securely onto the rope!! The comfortable handles work well with thin, thick or no gloves, and two biners fit through that bottom hole!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Justin from Smooth and Intuitive I've been using these ascenders for search and rescue work and they have been awesome. Easy to operate with gloves on, provide great grip, and the option to use your index finger let's you actuate the cam from different angles. Highly recommend!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Levi from Well made, easy to use. Used these a few times recently and they work just better than other brands I have tried. Huge upgrade from the older BD ascenders. Great product and well made.
